He's a dear friend of mine, we lost touch for a long time.  Over the past 25 years he has struggled with a variety of mental disorders and was placed in a chemically induced state,
by the state,
in a room,
frozen slowly in time for 25 years.
As he says ‘a switch tripped’ six months ago and he got off all the prescribed medications.  He’s trying hard to leave that room now, but he struggles with simple things that we take for granted. He suffers extreme highs and lows, something difficult for a friend even if we lost touch across continents.
